We have expansive maize fields and cultivate sugar beans, which serve as essential staples for food production within our community. In addition to these crops, we also grow Virginia tobacco, which is a significant source of revenue for the Friends For Roxanne Foundation. The income generated from the sale of Virginia tobacco plays a crucial role in funding our various projects and initiatives aimed at supporting those in need.
Our agricultural efforts are not limited to just maize and tobacco; we also grow a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes and other nutritious produce. These vegetables contribute to our goal of promoting food security and providing healthy meals for the local population. The diversity of our crops ensures that we can meet the dietary needs of the school community while also creating a sustainable agricultural practice.
We manage a total of 5 hectares of land, where we diligently cultivate corn, sugar beans, and Virginia tobacco. Each of these crops has been carefully selected not only for their market value but also for their ability to thrive in our local soil and climate conditions. The corn we grow is particularly important as it serves a dual purpose: it is used to feed the school children, ensuring that they receive adequate nutrition to support their learning and development.
Currently, I am at the fields, where we are actively working on the Virginia tobacco crop. The process of cultivating tobacco requires meticulous attention to detail, from planting to harvesting, and I am fully engaged in ensuring that we achieve the best possible yield.
As I take a moment to capture some photographs of the crops in the fields, I am reminded of the vital role that agriculture plays in our foundation’s mission. These images will not only showcase the progress we are making but also serve as a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in our agricultural endeavors. The visual representation of our crops will help communicate the importance of our work to supporters and stakeholders, highlighting how their contributions directly impact the lives of those we serve.
